CSLN Presents at the Ohio Statewide Spring Symposium

CSLN Presents at the Ohio Statewide Spring Symposium

The Ohio Child Support Enforcement Agency Directors’ Association (OCDA) recently held its Spring Symposium in Dublin, Ohio. Encompassing a wide range of topics, informational workshops covered family issues and industry challenges, in addition to exploring innovative strategies for effectively collecting support.

OCDA LogoAs an invited presenter, the Child Support Lien Network (CSLN) team valued the opportunity to present an overview of the network as well as an in depth look at Ohio’s membership, highlighting Ohio’s county workflow and documenting collection data in the CSLN system. Over one hundred session attendees also benefited from a demonstration of Ohio’s CSLN public website and secure state/county administrative websites, providing state child support workers with a comprehensive understanding of how CSLN supports their efforts.  Having CSLN staff members at the exhibit booth provided another opportunity for interaction with conference attendees to share information and respond to questions about the program.

Ohio joined CSLN in May 2013 and has seen great success in its first two years of membership. Since joining, Ohio has contributed over 14,000 matches to the network and received over 5,000 qualified matches. To date, Ohio has recorded collection data in the CSLN system of over $1.7 million. Ohio’s success is highlighted by a substantial collection, which occurred in late 2014. Mahoning County intercepted nearly $75,000 after monitoring a single personal injury claim for over a year. The money was distributed to two families, eliminating the entire arrears amount in both cases.

The Child Support Lien Network appreciates the opportunity to have presented and sponsored at the OCDA Spring Symposium. We look forward to a strong partnership with the State of Ohio as they strive “to be the nation’s leading workforce development and family support system”[1].
