Rhode Island Intercepts Six-Figure Collection from Single CSLN Match!

The Rhode Island Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) recently collected an astounding $100,000 from a single insurance intercept, Rhode Island's largest CSLN collection to date! In December of 2015, the Rhode Island OCSS placed a lien on a bodily injury claim submitted to CSLN from Travelers Insurance Company. Shortly thereafter, Travelers Insurance Company sent Rhode Island OCSS a lump sum payment, which nearly satisfied the arrears in full for two child support cases.

This remarkable collection proved invaluable for two families, both of whom were owed many years of unpaid support. Each custodial parent involved had received minimal, intermittent payments on their cases, and one had not received child support consistently since 2002. While every collection may not be six figures, it is important to note that intercepts of any amount can provide financial assistance to many families nationwide.

This case exemplifies that states of any size, whether they be large or small, have the potential to collect substantial arrearages to assist the children and families they serve.
